Quality Polish Rabbits

Welcome to our Rabbitry!

BUNNY BARN FARMS &

BREE'S BASHIN'  BUNNIES

Our rabbitry is a 12' x 20' Tuff Shed. One side is a 12' x 6' storage area and the other is the12'x 14' housing side. Our rabbitry is climate controlled with air conditioning & fans. Double doors are covered with a roll up suncreen shade that keeps the barn cool on warm days. For hotter days; the doors are closed and the air conditioner turned on. The double doors make easy access for cleaning & loading as well as providing plenty of fresh air while the screen provides bug control.

Our rabbitry consists of 46 holes. All cages have castors for easy moving allowing us to clean behind the cages weekly. We have pull out dura trays that we clean twice a week. We also have some outside hutches for day turn out.

The The walls of our rabbitry are paneled with water resistant frp paneling and covered with several layers of thin 3.5 mil plastic sheeting which also extends underneath the cages. The backs of the cages are covered in the same plastic sheeting which forces urine spray to run down underneath the cages where it is absorbed into industrial paper towels. When the plastic sheeting on the back of the cage becomes badly soiled, it is easily replaced. A few times a year, we remove cages for cleaning and pull one layer of the plastic sheeting off the walls & replace it when all the layers are gone. This method works very well for us since our rabbitry in inside & climate controlled. It's a little more work than an outside rabbitry but it's sure worth it when bad weather takes hold! We never worry about our bunnies like we did before.

We have a quarantine area away from our main barn for new rabbits coming in, or in the event we should need to isolate existing rabbits due to illness. Luckily, we have never had that problem but it's always good to be prepared.

We house our brood does in 18" x 24" and 24" x 24" holes. Bucks are housed in 18" x 24" . We also have some smaller holes for weanlings & prospective juniors.

Most all our rabbits are on water bottles. We have a few that are on crocks because they seem to do better.  All new litters are exposed to both water bottles and crocks. We recently acquired a tubed watering system for 10 holes but haven't hooked it up yet. This system may prove to be difficult for our set up because we move our cages weekly but we'll give it a try & see what happens.
