MEET MR. BUNNY....
the coolest bunny this side of the Mississippi!
Mr. Bunny is our rabbitry mascot. He showed up at our barn over 4 years ago & has been here ever since. He has quite a unique personality; much like that of a dog & cat combined. He follows us everywhere we go & when he hears our car pull in the driveway, he comes out to greet us like a dog but then ignores us like a cat. He comes when you whistle for him like a dog but he only likes to be petted when he wants to ...much like a cat.
He lives totally outside except we cage him when we clean the rabbitry or else he gets into everything. He has a bad habit of spraying our feet when he first greets us for the day but once we're marked...he's finished!
**MR BUNNY UPDATE April 2009: Mr. Bunny now comes inside every night. Our garage is converted to my work shop and when it gets dark, we whistle and he comes a running. He has a cage inside set up with food and water and now he's potty trained to a litter pan! In the morning, out he's goes for the days adventures! On rainy days, he won't go out anymore- he's happy to stay inside and hang with the cats and yes...he eats cat food if he can get to it!
At one point, the neighbors dog almost got him and we locked him up for 3 days. He was miserable and unhappy. When we turned him loose, he was gone for 3 days! When he came back we decided that he is happiest free, so free he is. We worry about him but he seems to stick much closer to home since the dog incident.
**MR BUNNY UPDATE November 2009: We think Mr. Bunny's a Daddy! The neighbor's have rabbits and a couple of months ago one of them got out. It looks like a standard Hotot. Mr. Bunny was hanging around with 'it" and now we have a broken blue bunny that has appeared. The three of them hang together but Mr. Bunny still comes home. Not every night now but the weather is getting colder so we'll see.
**MR BUNNY UPDATE JANUARY 2010: We now have 3 other rabbits living outside. Mr. Bunny's ex-wife and their 2 kids...and now, Mr. Bunny's daughter is his new girlfriend...Yikes! He has been spending a lot of time inside because of the rain.
At the beginning of summer, if temps were 90+ and he was around, we would put him in a carry cage & put him in the air conditoned barn for the day. Now when it's really hot like that, he waits at the door and doesn't leave. He seems to know that we'll put him in to keep him cool! Who says bunnies aren't smart? Mr. Bunny is!
Mr. Bunny also loves our Jack Russell Terrier "Fish" (yes..Fish the dog) and both our cats. It's not uncommon to see the dog, the cat & the rabbit walking around together. He even goes in the horse stalls when we're cleaning and the horses just smell him. Our grandaughter is 3 and frequently eats lunch with Mr. Bunny. He loves to eat anything she has.
We hope you enjoy "The Adventures of Mr. Bunny" as much as we do.
He's quite a character!
Mr. Bunny loves our dog so much he tried to breed her!
